Where is the love?

I just spent half an hour watching Bella Hopes, which coincidentally premiered today on NTV7.
For those of you who is wondering what on earth is Bella Hopes,
it is a documentary show full of inspiring stories of five ordinary women who does extraordinary things in what they believe in.
Today's episode revolve around Puspa Rani, the President of Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue (MIAR),
a non-profit organization that helps the stray dogs in need. (Source: Bella Hopes)
And because I am an animal lover, I can't help but balling my eyes out watching today's episode.
The one part that touches me the most was that when one of the dog that they save, Pandan Indah, died because it ate a poisoned chicken that was throw inside their shelter.
I can't help but to wonder, how can a human being is so cruel to kill an animal, that does nothing wrong to them?
Where is the love?
Where is the compassion?
Where are the values that they learn in their religion? (I am not pointing fingers here, because Puspa did not too while telling her stories)

Everyday when I go to Twitter, or sometimes on Facebook, I see people posting status like,
"I want a Siamese cat" or "I want a Siberian Husky dog".
And it goes on and on and on.
Don't get me wrong here, I am not annoyed because I don't have a Siamese cat or a Siberian Husky dog.
I am annoyed, and maybe a bit angry that they fail to look that in front of them, there are so many cats and dogs that are just as equally cute as well breed cats and dogs.
Not only that.
I've seen people who have a dog just for the sake of having a dog. i.e. My neighbour.
What is the point of having a dog if you just keep it in a kennel, or tie it up at one corner?
People always said that dogs are human's best friend.
But yet, everyday we heard about dogs being abuse, or got beaten up etc.
I remembered when I was still in UNIMAS, during my first year I walked around a lot.
And among the places that I like to go is Lakeview, one of the cafeterias available here.
There are a lot of dogs at that particular place, and usually it doesn't disturb people.
But there are a few times when I was at that area, I saw a group of students throw stones at the dogs, despite the dogs was only minding their own business.
Now, if there is a fact about dogs that I learn, is that dogs won't bark, let alone attack you, if you don't attack them first.
And this people go an throw stones at the dogs when the dogs obviously didn't even disturb them.
Where is your love, human?

Now, I am not saying that you shoudn't get a Siberian Husky, or Golden Retriever or German Shepherd as a dog.
All I am saying is that, why buy when there are so many stray dogs out there that needed the love and affection from you.
They are God's creation too, and it is not their wish to become a stray dog.
Why buy when you can save these dogs, and give them a whole new life for them?
Plus, adopting an animal (be it cats or dogs) are much cheaper than buying one.
So if you have the intention of getting a dog (or cat) as a pet, perhaps you can consider on adopting one at the nearest pet store.
Even better, you can go to the nearest animal shelter at your area and just take a pick of the litter.
You will never know how big of a deal you did to the animal, and also to the volunteers at the shelter.

Because the stray dogs deserve to have a good life too.
